The most beautiful illustrations of Animalaria arrive at La Fiesta de Olivia

I know it's not exactly a party product... but I couldn't resist bringing to La Fiesta de Olivia this beautiful collection of hand-painted watercolor illustrations by Chilean artist María José Abogabir. I met María José personally in Chile a little less than a month ago... I was in her workshop full of light and animals painted with love and great care.

The truth is, I fell in love with her work more than 2 years ago when I commissioned her on Instagram to create an illustration with an animal that would best represent each of my daughters, I was excited to give each of them a very personal gift. One of those gifts that remain forever and when they are older, they leave home, they take it with them as a memory of their parents.

I ordered a deer for my little daughter Olivia (she is very happy, creative and full of spark) and a horse for Carlota (very noble, thoughtful and strong). The two animals had an ideal flower crown on their heads that gave them such a pretty feminine touch... it was a success! These illustrations are also part of the Fridas de Animalaria collection.

I don't have photos of our Fridas, but I leave you this one so you can see how ideally four of them look together.

It is a collection made up of original watercolors painted in his workshop in Santiago de Chile, in which he has been inspired by animals from around the world in their different habitats: the African savannah, the forest and the farm.

This is what María José tells me when I ask her about her work...

"All my life I have lived surrounded by animals; chickens, dogs, rabbits, turtles, birds, practically being part of my family. That's why I really love painting them and it comes out very naturally.

The animal world is a very interesting world of color and texture to explore since each animal can express something with its posture, its eyes or the position of its ears.

I feel that I can reproduce them by giving them an intention, that they say something without losing their animal condition. That is why the technique I use is watercolor, it allows me to play with different textures, transparency and fur.

It is a very beautiful technique and the result transmits beauty and tranquility, with simple and delicate strokes, with colors that blend harmoniously and naturally. "
